We believe that "burlesque" in the traditional sense of the term (satire & parody of the status quo) is our best defense against the great tyrannies of wealth, religion and the state; and the petty tyrannies of conformity, bigotry and provincialism. True burlesque exposes the human frailties that political theory cannot account for, and to which it inevitably falls prey. It is in this spirit of carnivalesque burlesque, that we tinker with obsolete aesthetics & retro-genres. - We spoof social conventions as they come up against social reality. Our mission is to create a carnivalesque space where we can imagine our future before someone else does it for us. Otherwise, our possibilities will be reduced to the "product choices" that the military-industrial-entertainment complex offers us in lieu of truth and self-realization. - Or at least that's how it started — just a typical plot to subvert normative forces by queering the mix with a surrealist carnival. But then accidentally, or perhaps providentially, we became a mystery cult. After that, mere words falter and fade into the strangely beautiful song that the wind sings to the sea...
