Cabaret Decadance began in 1996 as a party joke. The party was 'themed' to invoke the spirit of the Dada art movement. We performed a couple of cabaret songs in homage to the little club in Zurich where the original Dadaists gathered at the onset of WW I to escape military conscription. The Dadaists shared a conviction that the modern philosophers' dream of "progress" was a fraud — which was easy to think as Europe descended into barbarism.

We live in parallel times, and our cabaret party joke touched a nerve - a kind of provocative nostalgia. The Dada party became an annual event. And our " joke" evolved into a full-blown vaudeville burlesque revue. We draw our musical and performance aesthetics from a time before breakbeats, power chords, and "the new prudery" that teaches us to fear our desires rather than own them. We specialize in pulling down society's knickers for a laugh or two. We don't long for a simpler time. We just endeavor to bring a sense of humor and historical perspective to bear as we spoof the present human condition. It's our little bit to keep those possible futures more interesting - and as free as possible.

Can a joke have a Destiny? Can a Destiny have a punchline?
